Valentine’s Day Style: Layering with Ruffles and Rose

Layers on Layers

Adding layers to your OOTD is a wonderful way to add dimension. I’m not going to lie, this non-maternity wear while pregnant challenge is getting more and more difficult every week, but I’m trying to stick it out (See my previous post as to why I’m trying not to invest too much in maternity wear). However, this weeks’ style is very free and flowy–so my pieces will be perfect while pregnant and post pregnancy.

Valentine’s Day Style

This week I’m featuring two flowy pieces from ASOS. I was looking for something different for Valentine’s Day, something that had an overall soft kind of feel. The first piece I fell in love with was a sheer maxi dress with subtle ruffling at the top half. Under this piece, I wore a black turtleneck. The black turtleneck is actually one of my staple winter pieces. Layering dresses with turtlenecks is an easy way stay warm and chic at the same time. Finally, I topped this look off with a flowy leather jacket. The second ASOS piece was more of a rose pink dress, but yet it’s tone is still soft. It’s ruffled accents and gathered side adds a romantic flare to this dress–perfect for Valentine’s Day! You’ll notice that I wore this piece with and without bottoms. Have fun with sheer pieces like these–the sky is the limit when it comes to layering!

Shoe Crush Alert

Speaking of V-Day, I found the most gorgeous heels, perfect for Valentine’s Day! These beauties are the perfect soft shade of pink, and they are the perfect price.

Check out my looks below for all of the different ways I wore these dresses. Wishing you all a fantastic week!

Home Decor: Obsessed with Throw Pillows

Home Decor Sasha Agent | Throw Pillows

Behind the Obsession

Anyone else out there have a throw pillow obsession? My husband is ready to throw me out the window whenever I bring home or purchase a new decorative pillow. Ha! He cannot comprehend why we even need them in first place due to the fact that I yell at him whenever he lays his head on one. To me, throw pillows give that final touch, and that last pop of detail to finalize your home.

So here is why I am a crazy person when it comes to throw pillows…

5 Reasons to Love Throw Pillows

  1. I like to furnish with neutral colors purposely so I always have the flexibility to change my accent colors. I’ve been known to change up my home decor time to time. So when this happens, it’s not the end of the world financially because all I’m having to change out are accent pieces and throw pillows.
  2. There are so many accents and statements you can make with pillows. They are great when you are looking to break up monotony on your sofa, or on your bed.
  3. Pillows can also dress up bare corners and empty oversized baskets. Often when I have an empty space that needs that certain something, I dress it up with a basket, or one of my antique galvanized oversized bins. Stuff these with a few pillows, and you have a new occupied space!
  4. You can easily play off of your accent colors by adding complimentary colors. This will often add more depth and detail to your focal point–it will also take away the predictably of your color scheme.
  5. Throw pillows can make sentimental statements. I have gone through Etsy to order personalized pillows marked with me and my husband’s wedding date and initials. I even DIY’d a few initial name pillows to avoid crazy costs.

So there you have it! Justification as to why your home needs an overload of pillows. When shopping for home statement pieces, I usually check with Pottery Barn first to see if I can find lookalikes on Amazon and Target (Target has some great deals right now… see here). For my personalized pillows, I  go to Etsy or Pinterest for my DIY inspiration. Take a look below at my current faves, and more I have on my wishlist. Just don’t tell the hubs–haha!

Have an amazing week my friends!

How to Transition from Mom Chic to Just Chic

Chic Mom Style

Alright, let’s get real… when I’m mom’ing around, you won’t find me in heels. And don’t get me wrong, I love heels, but I’m not trying to chase my toddler around in them–trust me, I’ve tried before and it wasn’t very pretty. Most people think that this means moms must kiss their chic styles goodbye. This is so not the case. This simply means that you must step up your shoe game!

My Chic Mom Trick

So here’s the mom trick–it’s super easy. If you have a show stopping OOTD, try finding a chic pair of sneakers to compliment your outfit. These days it’s so easy to find glamorous tennis. Dallas blogger Sasha Agent | How to | Mom ChicI found a beautiful pair of J. Crew exclusive New Balance sneakers with gold accents a while back, and I still have a shoe crush! The white with gold is neutral enough to go with a lot of chic wardrobe pieces. If you really dig deep on the blog, you’ll see that I’ve even worn these sneakers with skirts–they’re the best!

Now let’s fast forward a bit. A lot of times, especially on the weekends, my husband and I will run errands, or we will do something with the girls, and then find ourselves available for a spontaneous date night. I don’t always have the time for a quick change, but a change of shoes, I can do! This is when it’s time to break out the heels ladies!

Dallas blogger Sasha Agent | How to | Mom ChicWhat I Wore

Today’s OOTD is another cold shoulder beauty. I just can’t seem to pass these pieces up! I found this beautiful Missguided Cold Shoulder Sweater Dress top/tunic/dress (it works all three ways). It’s not a maternity piece, but I sized up specifically for my growing bump. I paired this top with an old pair of patch work denim from Old Navy, but click here and here for similar looks. As far as shoes, a chic pair of pointed nude heels (mine are BCBGeneration BG Throne Pumps) and my tan suede booties by Chinese Laundry definitely spiced up this OOTD even more.

See below for today’s outfit deets! Enjoy the rest of your week my friends!

Khaki Long Sleeve Stitch Pocket Loose Cardigan

Chic Winter

The winter season for me is a tough one to dress for, especially when you are trying to maintain your chic status. One thing I particularly hate about dressing up in the winter is feeling cold. Cozy sweaters, sweats, and boots 24/7 is tempting. If it wasn’t for work, I’d be all over this look–especially while being pregnant. Unfortunately, there’s just something in me that won’t allow this to be the case everyday. And I genuinely do just love dressing up and feeling good. This is when I find creative ways to layer up!

Keeping it Simple

We have a tendency to think that chic pieces have to be this expensive and fancy piece of clothing, but I often find that it’s the simple pieces that make the boldest statements. Today’s featured piece is a khaki colored cardigan by SheIn. This gorgeous sweater can be worn Blogger Sasha Agent wearing chic weekend wearin so many ways–it’s really just one of those classic and timeless pieces that you will keep forever.

How I Wore It

I decided to keep this OOTD very simple, which is what makes it so chic. A classic black turtleneck with distressed skinny jeans, and classic pointed neutral heels or strappy heels. The cardigan just adds a simple and neutral layer–perfect for layering up in the winter!

See my pictures below for inspiration. Also check out this link here for today’s featured piece. If you want to see my latest post on more SheIn looks, click here!

Bumpdate and Turning Simple to Chic with Pink Blush

Long Sleeve Side Ruched Maternity Dress

Long Sleeve Side Ruched Dress

Blogger Sasha Agent in chic ruched maternity dressPregnancy Style and Bump-Date

This mama is feeling a lot better. With both of my pregnancies, my nausea, food aversions and low energy was long gone by the second trimester. However, with this pregnancy, I haven’t been so lucky. Even over the Christmas break, I was dealing with morning sickness, food aversions, super low energy, headaches and a horrible toothache! Recently, my energy seems to be creeping back up, I’m not being super picky on what to eat, nausea may only come in waves a couple of times a week, and I finally fixed my tooth problem which has also helped reduce the headaches. Finally, things are looking promising!

Not Trading in the Chic

So I’m pretty much feeling like a seasoned vet when it comes to this whole pregnancy thing. However, this time around, especially now that I’m blogging, I’m learning that styleBlogger Sasha Agent in chic ruched maternity dress doesn’t have to be compromised. With that being said, you would think comfort would then have to be sacrificed, but that’s not the case either.

Like I explained before on my last maternity post, I am obsessed with Pink Blush and love how they incorporate the current chic trends for women, yet still take comfort into account. Today’s Pink Blush find is a chic olive dress (see the non-maternity version here) with a ruched/gathered side to either dress up your bump, or just add a little bit of pizzazz. This dress comes in multiple colors for multiple seasons, and best of all, it’s soooooo comfortable, soft and stretchy. This dress looks amazing alone or layered with an accent piece.

How I Wore It

Take a look at my looks below for inspiration. I’ve paired this chic look with an oversized faux style vest, over the knee boots (my defaults this season) and dramatic chandelier earrings. This dress is also just as stunning by itself! Remember… Pink Blush is not only all about the pregnant mamas, they’re really just about making women feel beautiful. They’ve got something for everyone, so check them out! I will also be hosting a Pink Blush $75 gift card giveaway today around noon, so be on standby via Instagram for the launch of that contest (@snafierce)!

Happy Friday!
