Repost: CheerTime101’s 60 Day Feel Good Challenge: Week 5

Channel your inner child... No judgementsThat’s right! You did it! Your are officially half way through! So what have you learned this far? So far I’ve learned the power of positivity and social connections.

Last week we tried something that, I’m sure, made us a little uncomfortable–the eye contact challenge. However, did you noticed that being more engaged in conversation created a rich connection? Most likely the person speaking felt really comfortable and supported.

This upcoming week, I want you to try challenging yourself to eliminate all judgmental thoughts. As you can see I have my youngest daughter’s picture posted for today’s challenge. The reason for this is simple, I want you to channel your inner innocent child.

And be honest with yourself, we all judge. We all make judgments about others, whether it’s a stranger we pass by on the street, a celebrity, or even an Instagram picture we come across (I’m definitely guilty here, ha!). This week, try catch yourself in the act of judging–and simply stop yourself from continuing that thought. Then replace your thought with, “It’s really not my place to judge.”

Good luck, and let me know how you are doing. You can hashtag, #sashaagent or #cheertime101. Tag me on Instagram or Twitter, @snafierce!

Another Reason to Love Sassy Pop–From a Hair-Tradgedy to Positivity

Another reason to love Sassy Pop "A Hair-Tragedy"We all love her… She’s our spunky Sassy Pop. You may have wondered why Sisi has been a little quiet since her back to school special this past August. Well, like every other active fourth grader, she’s been super busy with school and extra curricular activities. And oh yeah, there was also one other thing…

Here’s another reason why you’ll just adore Sisi… I’m sure you all remember my oh so chic surprise birthday party I held for my mom. Well, let’s just say my oldest daughter Sisi knows how to shut down a party.

Toward the end of the party, Sisi decided to use the restroom. Another reason to love Sassy Pop "A Hair-Tragedy"After washing her hands, she also decided to splash water on her face. We all know and love her big hair… Well it was actually her big hair that sort of got her in this mess, yet it also saved her. Sisi dipped the tips of her hair into a small bathroom candle and set her entire head on fire. She ran outside to the backyard screaming at the top her lungs, “My hair’s on fire!” I’m sure you can imagine how traumatic this was for everyone to witness–me especially being her mom.

I thank God for our guests quick thinking, because I was literally in shock. After about 7 seconds of frantically running and chasing her down, the fire was finally put out with water from a vase of flowers. I immediately ran my baby to the shower, and rinsed out what seemed like endless chunks of burnt hair. Her entire hair had been given a generous cut, but the center of her head was almost entirely exposed. Three more seconds, and her scalp would’ve been severely burned. Like I said, her big hair also saved her by allowing some time for the fire to reach her scalp.

I fought back my tears trying to stay calm for her, as she cried to me apologizing for the Another reason to love Sassy Pop "A Hair-Tragedy"accident. I of course reassured her, endlessly repeating that it was not her fault, and reminded her of what truly mattered.

How could my sweet girl think it was her fault? In fact I blamed myself for not thinking to put the candle somewhere out of the way. But again, all that mattered was that she was okay, and the fire hadn’t caused any major burns. We told Sisi over and over how much worse the situation could have been, and as I repeated this advice, I still had to convince myself of this truth. As thankful as I was, I still worried about bullying at school, and hurtful comments from her classmates.

I prayed and prayed and cried and cried, until I finally snapped out of it and made the best out of the situation like I usually do. I experimented with ways of styling to reduce the questions. Finally after about a bazillion different clips and lots of headbands, I saw her confidence come back to life.

Another reason to love Sassy Pop "A Hair-Tragedy"Sisi misses her big hair of course, but she knows it’s just hair and it will grow back. She also recognizes that others aren’t so lucky. She’s truly a trooper and I admire her transparency in wanting to share. So if you’re wondering, “Where’s the curly fro?” Well, it will be making an appearance a little later down the line. Until then, Sisi wants everyone to know she’s super excited about rockin’ her hats, clips, and headbands.

Also, I’ve learned to love and appreciate fragranced plug ins, and battery operated candles. Just sayin.’

Love you all, and thank you for your support! <3

One Fall #OOTD, 3 Ways to Wear it!

In Dallas, we’re still averaging highs of 90 degrees, which means you can go from this look… To this look… Just like that!

Texas weather in general can be a bit unpredictable. And like I mentioned before in my Fall in Dallas post, the fall is by far my favorite season. You can expect mildly cool mornings and evenings, as well as perfect summer highs. So what does this mean for your wardrobe? Really, anything goes!

On this gorgeous fall day, I took my favorite Cupshe romper out for a morning spin by layering it with an oversized fringe cardigan. To finish off my look, I wore my favorite knee high Frye riding boots. Finally, I added my fall must have accessory… a Forever 21 tan fedora. Can you believe this one was 12 dollars?

As the temps climbed, I traded out my cardigan and boots for my all time favorite Free People exclusive Jefferey Campbell gladiator sandals. I then took a long sleeve denim button up or chambray shirt, and wrapped it around my waist for an added layer.

Finally, as the temperature dropped, I simply changed out my sandals for my tan low heeled booties, left the shirt around my waist, and tossed my fedora back on.

And there you have it! One #ootd, and three ways to wear it in the fall–well in Dallas at least.

Happy fall y’all!

You just can’t beat 12 bucks for a fedora like this… I love you Forever 21!Go figure… This too is a Forever 21 fringe cardigan that I purchased last year, but here are some similar looks… Fringe 1, Fringe 2, Fringe 3 and Fringe 4.
Remember me? Still obsessed with this genuine suede fringe clutch.  Best gladiator sandals out there! And finally, this romper by CUPSHE… so in <3
And don’t forget to layer with your denim top! Here is another option

Oh yeah, since this is such an awesome deal–you might as well grab this fedora in black too!

Fall in Dallas

Fall in DallasIt’s the most wonderful time–of the year,” in my best Andy Williams voice. Okay, it’s obviously not Christmas, but Dallas weather in the fall has me smiling and humming this tune.

For 25 years of my life, I was a full on California girl. Now that I am a Texan, I realized that I took the beautiful Cali weather for granted.

The season I now look forward to the most is fall in Dallas. It’s absolutely gorgeous. If you ever visit in the fall, expect breezy yet light winds, cool and crisp mornings, and mildly warm evenings.

Feel free to wear anything you want really. Dress in anything from light sweaters, cutoff shorts, dresses, blazers, rompers–anything goes!

Fall in DallasThis past weekend we took a last minute randevú to a lake right outside of Dallas, and the weather was perfect. It was literally the exact blend of summer and fall. On this beautiful day I wore my adorable CUPSHE two piece set, layered it with an oversized fringe sweater, and topped it off with a statement gold necklace–so comfy and chic! This entire look was under 30 dollars! You just can’t beat that!

So if you happen to “Fall” in the Dallas area, remember, just about anything goes!

Happy Fall!
