Travel Diaries: San Antonio & Austin Date Night

Blogger Sasha Agent on a date night in San Antonio

The Non-Existent Date Night

So, I’ve heard that this whole date night thing is a must for a marriage. Well, to be honest, my husband and I don’t get out much. Now don’t get me wrong, I would love to have consistent and kid free getaways more often, but we don’t really have the necessary resources available to us–like time and money for example. Maybe if I dropped my shopping habit… ha!

San Antonio Talk

After our amazing Grand Canyon vacation, my husband had his annual coaching school which was located in San Antonio, TX this year. My husband and I thought this would be a great opportunity to getaway for a quick date night–staycation style. Luckily, my mom agreed Sasha Agent wearing pom pom crochet dress on a date nightto watching our girls for a full day and night–the first time we would ever be gone together overnight. Other than our honeymoon, we couldn’t think of a time when we actually had a full day to ourselves–kid free.

The drive to San Antonio from Dallas isn’t so bad. It’s around 4 1/2 hours, which is perfect for doing what we rarely get a chance to do–talk and laugh. I felt like we were giddy teenagers away from our parents for the first time.
After arriving and checking in to our hotel, we went straight for the River Walk for a boat tour and amazing Italian food right off of the water. I literally almost forgot we were in Texas!

Sasha Agent wearing a date night maxi dressOn this evening I wore a red crochet mini dress with pom-pom trim by SheIn and received so many sweet compliments. As we explored, I wore my rose gold metallic slides (see similar here, here, and here), and for dinner, I let my hair down and laced up my nude heels by Steve Madden.
The next day, we got to do just a little more exploring in the Downtown area, so I was sure to wear something a bit festive. I wore my gorgeous Christin Michaels maxi dress as we had lunch outside the Alamo and walked the beautiful streets of Downtown San Antonio.

Austin Love

After lunch, it was about that time to head back towards Dallas, but we knew Mexican off of
South Congress in Austin, TX was a must! This past spring, my hubs took us to Austin for a nice family getaway. We immediately fell in love with South Congress, so we definitely wanted to go back for a quick andBlogger Sasha Agent wearing off the shoulder top with bell sleeves date night early dinner at a fun Mexican spot. Here I wore an off the shoulder bell sleeved top, also by SheIn (see here in a chambray/denim as well) with distressed denim shorts (DIY–see similar here and here) from Nordstrom.

After a lot laughing, a little flirting, and a lot of talking (mostly about missing our girls) we decided that we deserved to invest more time in our four-year long marriage. Easier said than done I’m assuming. Well, if you have the chance for a quick date night/mini staycation with your significant other, take it! Take the time to simply talk and laugh–you two are worth the investment.

Travel Diaries: San Francisco Style

Blogger Sasha Agent wearing a gingham dress in San Francisco

Home Sweet Home

This past weekend I got to host a cheerleading clinic in my hometown of Sacramento, California. However, before getting to work, I got to spend a little leisure time with my dad and step mom in the beautiful city of San Francisco.

Now, if you’ve ever seen this amazing place–you would know that the weather is somewhat different. San Francisco is known for having its own sub climate, and it can be drastically cooler than the surrounding cities. When we arrived, it was 67 degrees–a nice break from the heat in the valley. I also thought this would be the perfect time to test out some of my early fall finds.

With this whole Fall Nordstrom Anniversary sale going on, I thought the cool San Francisco temps would be the ideal place to test out my new Fall Nordstrom find–my patchwork oversized cardigan by Topshop. I wore my cardigan both street and chic style with just a simple swap of the shoes (my Adidas and pointed heels). Once you get away from all of the fog, the temps warm up a bit, which was perfect for my adorable Christin Michaels blue and white gingham sundress a la Zappos.

Blogger Sasha Agent wearing a color blocking dress in San FranciscoMy family and I had fun enjoying the sites, like checking out the painted ladies, the Golden Gate Bridge, strolling the botanical gardens, and finally a picnic in Golden Gate Park. Oh, and I couldn’t pass up Chinese food in China Town! For dinner I wore my Christin Michaels black and white color blocked dress, also a Zappos find.

Check out my pictures below to see how I wore each look! You can shop the post at the bottom for direct links!

Have a beautiful week!

Packing List for my Southwest Road Trip

Next Stop… The Southwest

Because my husband and I are teachers, and we get the summers off, we try to plan at least one big annual vacation. During our first year of marriage, we explored Nuevo Nayarit in Mexico, the year after that we took on Northern California cramming in Yosemite, Lake Tahoe, and San Francisco. Last year was Disney World and the whole Orlando experience, but this year we wanted more out of our trip. We thought it would be pretty cool to take a family road trip exploring the Southwest–West Texas, New Mexico, and ultimately the Grand Canyon.

Fashionable leather tote packed with shoes and distressed jeansThe planning part of the trip was easy! We simply discovered all of our hotels using Tavelocity–which is always pretty simple. The difficult part was planning out what to wear, all while packing pretty lightly (and trust me, this was a challenge for me).

Today, I’m going to give you a glimpse into my packing list–sort of first access to my outfits and accessories before I even blog about them. Take a look at my Lookbook below for a little sneak preview of what you will be seeing on the blog throughout the next couple of weeks. You will definitely see that I specifically chose pieces that can fit into a Southwest kind of lifestyle, as well as an everyday summer lifestyle.

Wish us luck throughout our journey–especially the fact that we are traveling with a 2-year-old in the middle of intense potty training (YIKES!) However, I’m so looking forward to quality time with my family, beautiful scenery, and inspiring all of you, my followers!

Enjoy! And happy Friday!

Festive Summer Stripes you Need and New Mexico

Summer Adventure

This summer I’m all about adventure! Being teachers and all, my husband and I both have the same summer vacation, and this year we planned on doing something a little different. Rather than flying out to a destination, we thought it would be exciting to a take a road trip and meet up with my sisters and their families at the Grand Canyon in Arizona; sort of a mini family reunion.

Now, keep in mind we do have a two-year old, meaning we need to take our time. With that I thought, how cool would it be to make a mini stop in New Mexico? The hubs doesn’t know about my little plan just yet, but he will shortly!

Festive Summer Stripes

With this festive pit stop we make, the girls and I are surly going to need to look the part, and I would say our striped and festive dresses will be perfect! You can find my dress from ASOS, see similar here, here, here, and here, complete with wrap up heels by Steve Madden or gladiator sandals from Target, and an authentic Mexican leather bag, which can be found via Etsy. As for the girls, their dresses can be found at Target, Tay’s here, similar sandals here, and Sisi’s here, and gladiators here). Whether or not you go on an adventure this summer, just make sure you keep it festive with these must haves!

See my video blog and pictures below to see our festive styled dresses! Don’t forget to scroll all the way to the bottom to shop our looks! And, just FYI… ASOS literally just sold out of this dress as soon as it was delivered to my front door on Saturday; they do have other colors–which are linked on my Shop the Post below. Other than that, I found some amazing similar looks that you would enjoy, and I’ll keep you posted about restock alerts.

Summer Ready

Clearly I’m into the whole color popin’ thing, and totally ready for summer! My recent blog posts, minus my Adidas write up, has been full of color! I feel like over the fall and winter, all colors went out the window–I was neutral obsessed! Once we went to Austin two weeks ago, I felt like it was time to have a color breakout!

Today’s video blog highlights most of my Austin looks and gives a great prelude to summer fashion. What I love about summer is that it stays pretty consistent. You’ve got shorts, sandals, sun dresses, rompers, sunnies, tees and tanks–you really don’t need to worry too much about trends, because these things are always trending in the summer.

Below you will find some of my favorite summer pieces… Some new and some vintage. Have you noticed I LOVE vintage pieces? I was really excited when I found my exact white jumpsuit that I found on Ebay on Etsy–I’ve got it linked here and it’s a medium! I’ve also linked some fab lookalikes and newbies through Shopbop (today is the last day of the 25% off sale), Nordstrom and Target. Also be sure to shop this post below for an easier way to browse.

Vote, Vote, VOTE!

I also want to thank you for all of your votes in regard to the Redbook Real Women Style Awards!  If you still haven’t heard, you can catch up here! Rememeber, you can vote every hour until May 10th if you want to see me make the cover of Redbook’s September issue. If I don’t win fan favorite, I’m hoping to at least have high enough votes in order for the editors to consider me for the remaining 5 spots. Fingers crossed!

Thank you all so much and Happy Thursday!
