Alright, let’s get real… when I’m mom’ing around, you won’t find me in heels. And don’t get me wrong, I love heels, but I’m not trying to chase my toddler around in them–trust me, I’ve tried before and it wasn’t very pretty. Most people think that this means moms must kiss their chic styles goodbye. This is so not the case. This simply means that you must step up your shoe game!
My Chic Mom Trick
So here’s the mom trick–it’s super easy. If you have a show stopping OOTD, try finding a chic pair of sneakers to compliment your outfit. These days it’s so easy to find glamorous tennis. I found a beautiful pair of J. Crewexclusive New Balance sneakers with gold accents a while back, and I still have a shoe crush! The white with gold is neutral enough to go with a lot of chic wardrobe pieces. If you really dig deep on the blog, you’ll see that I’ve even worn these sneakers with skirts–they’re the best!
Now let’s fast forward a bit. A lot of times, especially on the weekends, my husband and I will run errands, or we will do something with the girls, and then find ourselves available for a spontaneous date night. I don’t always have the time for a quick change, but a change of shoes, I can do! This is when it’s time to break out the heels ladies!
We all know that wearing what you feel is all the rage. Yes, graphic tees are super popular, but I’ve started to notice that it’s hard to make a statement that is original and not redundant. We’ve all seen the, “But first, coffee” or “Fry Day” tees, but these sayings can be a bit overdone, so it’s nice to finally find a company that specializes in original quotes and sayings.
Meet Thread Tank
I recently came across a company by the name of Thread Tank, “The Stories You Can Wear.” This company recently reached out and introduced me to their amazing line of graphic tees for both women and men. I was immediately sold by their catchy and clever sayings as soon as I began scrolling their site. I personally fell in love with
everything mom related, mainly because I’m currently carrying around my twenty-four hour mom cargo (baby bump) ha! I selected their adorable “Mama Bear” and “Papa Bear” tees for my husband and I. I thought this would allow for really cute maternity pics. I also chose their “Mom Game Strong” tee. This shirt just spoke to me because I highly respect the moms out there who are constantly multitasking, wearing many hats, and living their dreams–all while balancing mom life. These women are my inspiration.
Check out today’s pictures as well as the Thread Tank website or Instagram profile for inspiration. These tees would make a great Christmas gift for yourself, or even a loved one. Be sure to follow me today on my Instagram account… I’ll be hosting a giveaway where three lucky winners will be chosen to select a tee of their choice! That’s right, not one, but THREE lucky winners!
Enjoy the rest of your week friends, and don’t forget to wear what you feel!
Many people ask me if I really wear the outfits that I blog about–especially with my kids. The answer is, ABSOLUTELY! I like to call it, mom glam! Mom glam is all about creating a fierce OOTD, all while wearing shoes that are chic, yet still offer comfort. I would be mad at myself, if I spent money on nice outfits, simply for the sake of taking blog pictures. When I purchase or receive clothes from companies, I make sure that they truly reflect my personal style, and that they’re something I will enjoy wearing even outside of the blog.
With Mom Glam, It’s All About the Heel
So again, how do I do this with kids? My secret… It’s all about the shoes–especially the heel. Now, a bit of honesty here–I’m pretty good at walking in heels. In fact, there were times when I had to dance in heels for performances back in my NBA dancing days. Block heels that aren’t too high, are shoes that I would wear with my kids. So going to a museum, or an event with minimal walking–I can handle a low and sturdy heel.
If a little bit more activity and movement is involved, such as a local farmers market, or a children’s event, I’ll be sure to wear shoes that are a bit more kid friendly. Thanks to street fashion, tennis shoes can now be worn with practically anything. Sandals are also a lifesaver; they make it easy to get around while looking on trend. Wedges, as long as the platform isn’t too high, can also be great with the kiddos.
So there you have it! Strut that playground like it’s a runway! Ha! With or without kids–make a statement! You can shop my favorite mom friendly shoes at the bottom of this post!
Wishing everyone a fab Monday and week!
