Back to school… Back to Reality

Does anyone else, especially my parents, tend to get depressed when it’s time for the kids to go back to school? For me, it’s like a reality check–another reminder of how fast time flies. I can literally remember every moment of me walking my oldest daughter to class on her first day of kindergarten. Here in a couple of weeks, I’ll be walking those same footsteps to her 5th grade classroom, but even worse, this will be her last year as an elementary student. Sigh…

Now on a lighter and more stylish note… have you noticed the 70s and 80s are back? Yes, retro sneakers to be more specific. In fact, the classic KangaROOS–known for their famous side pockets have returned, and they’ve teamed up with the amazing Payless ShoeSource for a fierce comeback!

So back to my sappy story… sniff. This school year, I’ll be sending both of my baby girls, and myself, back to school retro style in super cool, affordable, and comfy KangaROOS! Not only will my oldest stand out in her fly Pocketpass Jogger sneakers, but she’ll also have a note full of love and some extra snack money tucked away in the side pockets! As for my youngest, I know all of her toddler friends at daycare will be super envious of her new KangaROO kicks–Ha! And finally, me… for the 2016-2017 school year, you will find this middle school teacher struttin’ the halls retro style in some fierce KangaROOS!

Blushing in my Who What Wear Button Up

Blushing in my Who What Wear Button Up by Sasha Agent Who What Wear Crazy?

Am I going a bit overboard with the Who What Wear Target line? Why of course not! It’s practical, chic, and affordable–perfect for this teacher/mama fashionista! If you’ve been keeping up with my posts for the past weeks, you can see that this line can easily be dressed up or down. I love that the Who What Wear line is super sleek, and made with great quality.

I’m Blushing

The go to color this spring is a muted pink, or even better, a blush. What’s funny is that, I’m really not much of a pink person, but this subtle color is definitely a way to showcase your girly side, without making such a loud statement.

Blushing in my Who What Wear Button Up by Sasha Agent Spring Trends

Today I made sure to showcase three different looks–chic, professional, and casual. A great piece to invest in for the Spring is the sheer button up. I absolutely love these tops! They’re so light, functional, and easy to mix and match with different bottoms–whether it’s a skirt, jeans, slacks, shorts–the sky is the limit! Another Spring trend is the belt. Since blogging, I’m beginning to realize the true importance of investing in good belts. Today’s lilac leather braided belt (real leather by Talbots) was found for three bucks at a local thrift store–so never underestimate the power of the thrift store!

See my pictures and descriptions below for the direct links! And bring on the Spring already!

Keepin’ It Festive, Casual & Cozy For the Holidays

Keepin’ It Festive, Casual & Cozy…

Mom life and teacher life is always crazy, which unfortunately means we get a late start on our holiday festivities and shopping. However, with it being the holidays and all, of course you know this mama must be rollin’ in style.

This past weekend kicked off the first of our Christmas break. Thankfully my husband and I are both teachers, so we get the same vacation–meaning we’re able to be super productive in a short time.

First stop… McKinney, Texas.

This chic and adorable little town allows me to find affordable, yet unique gifts. I also get to antique shop, which my husband just loves (insert sarcasm). On this stop, I kept it festive!

This festive poncho (originally from Urban Outfitters) is by far my favorite piece for the holidays! Click here and here for two similar looks.
I paired my casual overalls with this super chic pussy bow blouse, just like I did in the fall. This look wouldn’t be complete without a knit pom pom beanie.
My rustic decorative sled I just had to have! I was inspired by the amazing Pearls and Petunias.  My husband is such a great sport! Ha! Thank goodness he’s always down for a photo opportunity. Click here for a similar hooded vest, and here for his plaid flannel.
Click here for my Sassy Pop’s “Be Bold” Old Navy graphic tee and here for her hat.
Also check out Tayteebear’s similar Old Navy boots, and patchwork denim.

Next Stop… Trade Days!

On the next stop, I kept it a bit more casual at trade days, sort of an antique flea market… I switched out my festive poncho and formal pussy bow blouse for my casual military cargo jacket and black turtleneck.

How cool is this lumber jack hat?
I’ve had this awesome jacket since I graduated from college, but click here and here for a similar military cargo jacket.  These Target rain boots are amazing, but unfortunately they’re long gone… but check these boots out! Pretty darn close!
Love this hat  This look minus the jacket… <3

Last Stop… Enjoy Christmas Lights with the Fam!

On our last stop we took a family walk enjoying all of the festive Christmas lights. We also drove through a strip of choreographed dancing lights. Love this time of year.

Everyone must have a cozy puff coat–see a similar one here.
Love this faux fur pom pom beanie!

Jam packed day… but so worth it when you get to enjoy it all with family.

Wishing you all festive, casual, and cozy holidays!

Talk about the perfect way to teach your kiddo the true meaning of Christmas, and who it’s really all about!
