Alright, let’s get real… when I’m mom’ing around, you won’t find me in heels. And don’t get me wrong, I love heels, but I’m not trying to chase my toddler around in them–trust me, I’ve tried before and it wasn’t very pretty. Most people think that this means moms must kiss their chic styles goodbye. This is so not the case. This simply means that you must step up your shoe game!
My Chic Mom Trick
So here’s the mom trick–it’s super easy. If you have a show stopping OOTD, try finding a chic pair of sneakers to compliment your outfit. These days it’s so easy to find glamorous tennis. I found a beautiful pair of J. Crewexclusive New Balance sneakers with gold accents a while back, and I still have a shoe crush! The white with gold is neutral enough to go with a lot of chic wardrobe pieces. If you really dig deep on the blog, you’ll see that I’ve even worn these sneakers with skirts–they’re the best!
Now let’s fast forward a bit. A lot of times, especially on the weekends, my husband and I will run errands, or we will do something with the girls, and then find ourselves available for a spontaneous date night. I don’t always have the time for a quick change, but a change of shoes, I can do! This is when it’s time to break out the heels ladies!
The winter season for me is a tough one to dress for, especially when you are trying to maintain your chic status. One thing I particularly hate about dressing up in the winter is feeling cold. Cozy sweaters, sweats, and boots 24/7 is tempting. If it wasn’t for work, I’d be all over this look–especially while being pregnant. Unfortunately, there’s just something in me that won’t allow this to be the case everyday. And I genuinely do just love dressing up and feeling good. This is when I find creative ways to layer up!
Keeping it Simple
We have a tendency to think that chic pieces have to be this expensive and fancy piece of clothing, but I often find that it’s the simple pieces that make the boldest statements. Today’s featured piece is a khaki colored cardigan by SheIn. This gorgeous sweater can be worn in so many ways–it’s really just one of those classic and timeless pieces that you will keep forever.
How I Wore It
I decided to keep this OOTD very simple, which is what makes it so chic. A classic black turtleneck with distressed skinny jeans, and classic pointed neutral heels or strappy heels. The cardigan just adds a simple and neutral layer–perfect for layering up in the winter!
See my pictures below for inspiration. Also check out this link here for today’s featured piece. If you want to see my latest post on more SheIn looks, click here!
Thanks for stopping by the blog! Have a beautiful and chic week!
This mama is feeling a lot better. With both of my pregnancies, my nausea, food aversions and low energy was long gone by the second trimester. However, with this pregnancy, I haven’t been so lucky. Even over the Christmas break, I was dealing with morning sickness, food aversions, super low energy, headaches and a horrible toothache! Recently, my energy seems to be creeping back up, I’m not being super picky on what to eat, nausea may only come in waves a couple of times a week, and I finally fixed my tooth problem which has also helped reduce the headaches. Finally, things are looking promising!
Not Trading in the Chic
So I’m pretty much feeling like a seasoned vet when it comes to this whole pregnancy thing. However, this time around, especially now that I’m blogging, I’m learning that style doesn’t have to be compromised. With that being said, you would think comfort would then have to be sacrificed, but that’s not the case either.
Like I explained before on my last maternity post, I am obsessed with Pink Blush and love how they incorporate the current chic trends for women, yet still take comfort into account. Today’s Pink Blush find is a chic olive dress (see the non-maternity version here) with a ruched/gathered side to either dress up your bump, or just add a little bit of pizzazz. This dress comes in multiple colors for multiple seasons, and best of all, it’s soooooo comfortable, soft and stretchy. This dress looks amazing alone or layered with an accent piece.
How I Wore It
Take a look at my looks below for inspiration. I’ve paired this chic look with an oversized faux style vest, over the knee boots (my defaults this season) and dramatic chandelier earrings. This dress is also just as stunning by itself! Remember… Pink Blush is not only all about the pregnant mamas, they’re really just about making women feel beautiful. They’ve got something for everyone, so check them out! I will also be hosting a Pink Blush $75 gift card giveaway today around noon, so be on standby via Instagram for the launch of that contest (@snafierce)!
Get ready everyone! I will be adding a new vertical on the blog, and that is home decor! If
you think about it, I’m not really straying too far from fashion, home decor is really just fashion for your home! I’m not sure what it is, maybe I’m entering the nesting phase of my pregnancy, or maybe I’m getting burnt out of taking blogging photos–or could it be both? who knows… However, I do know that I’m pretty excited to showcase something new on my site!
The Birthday Girl
Luckily, my mini me doesn’t really keep up with my blog–she’s too engulfed in her tween-ager life. But she does have a birthday coming up soon at the end of February, and we’ve decided to give her a fabulous room makeover instead of a birthday party. My little Sassy Pop is growing up too fast, and I think it’s about time we weed out the Hello Kitty takeover in her bedroom and upgrade to a bit more of a pre-teen, sophisticated look.
As I browsed online for room inspiration, I came across a look on Pinterest that I
just couldn’t get enough of. It was the Pottery Barn Teen’s ‘Emily & Meritt Bed Of Roses Duvet.’ This mix of shabby and contemporary elements was love at first click, but I was quickly brought back to reality when I saw the price tags on everything. I started to become discouraged, but then I thought about finding alternate pieces and lookalikes to still get the same look. Well, I actually had a ton of luck with sites like, Amazon Home and Wayfair. I wasn’t as lucky with finding a similar duvet, so I went ahead and bought the actual Pottery Barnduvet and sham. However, as for the rest of the bed, see what I found below.
I think I’m off to a great start! Keep checking back for more of her room additions, a few DIY projects, and of course, the big reveal!
SheIn always has affordable and amazing pieces, but this top for sure has to be my absolute favorite! Yes, I’m a sucker for boho styles, but add a little crochet and elements like a peplum, a little off the shoulder action–and I’m totally sold. I literally fell in love with this boho top from the moment I saw it online. My only fear was whether or not it would fit since my body is currently being taken over and occupied right now. Thank goodness I managed to squeeze in just in time before my belly was too big. Now, this top will for sure be motivation for me to get back into shape after the baby arrives in the Spring.
How I Wore It and How I Plan To Wear It
Here, I paired this stunning top with my favorite paint splattered jeans and simple heels. Because it’s such a breathtaking top, there’s really no need to go overboard with the rest of the outfit. Styling the rest of your outfit with this bohemian beauty should be effortless. After I drop the baby weight, I plan on wearing this top with simple cutoff denim shorts and gladiators to complete the whole boho look. To dress it up a bit, I plan on a little white on white layering, with white skinny jeans and fringe nude heels. Can’t wait!
Until then, I’ll just wait patiently until I can fit this beauty the way I want. For the rest of you, click here for this beautiful top. It also comes in classic black and a gorgeous yellow. Honestly, I want them in all colors!
As always, thank you all so much for stopping by! Stay warm out there!
To be honest, my first lace up piece was kind of a disaster. You see, after going through two pregnancies, plus breastfeeding for a year with both girls, I’ve actually been pretty self-conscious about showing any skin in that area. Over my Christmas break, I blogged about finding a one stop shop for show stopping dresses. For some reason I felt compelled to try out a front lace up dress. I couldn’t resist just how stunning it was, and just hoped that the lace didn’t run too low. Once I tried it on, I was so happy I took a chance. Just like I hoped, the lace didn’t run low, so I didn’t have to worry about being self-conscious–especially because I could still get away with wearing a supportive bra.
How to Rock the Lace Up Dress
Today’s Tobi dress, the ‘Better Off Lace Up Shift Dress,’ is that perfect date night, or dinner dress if a girl wants to stand out of the crowd a bit. It comes in three colors, a mauve–which is what I have featured here today, but it also comes in classic black, and a beautiful olive green. As far as shoes, you have tons of options. A strappy or even simple heel would really make this dress pop, but lately I can’t get enough of my over the knee tan boots which not only look amazing with almost everything, but they also keep my legs warm in the cold.
Tobi, All About the Glam
Last week I introduced an online retailer by the name of Tobi to my blog. From the moment you click on their site, you’ll see that this brand has glamour written all over them! With each piece, I find something very unique. Like stated on my last Tobi post, their designs take place in the heart of Los Angeles. They take inspiration from the LA city life, and channel them into beautiful and affordable clothing. “We design and develop all of our products and collections out of our headquarters in downtown Los Angeles. Our design inspiration is LA itself; the girls, the city, the energy, the attitude.” (Tobi.com).
